Scottish and Southern Energy today added to the flood of miserable news for UK energy consumers by announcing record-breaking price increases of 29.2% on the cost of gas and 19.2% on the cost of electricity supplied by one of its energy brands (Scottish Hydro, Southern Electric, Swalec and Atlantic Electric and Gas).
